This week’s issue of Entertainment Weekly spotlights next week’s Comic-Con, specifically The Amazing Spider-Man’s presence there, with new photos and details.

The magazine confirms that Rhys Ifans is playing Doc Conners, who will transform into the villain known as The Lizard.

Entertainment Weekly had this to say about the highly anticipated Marvel adaptation.

“Four years after Spider-Man 3, starring Tobey Maguire, The Amazing Spider-Man promises to be a “more contemporary,” “more gritty,” and “more character-driven” look at the comic book hero.”

In the issue, on news stands Friday, Marc Webb offered this bit of insight into the reboot.

“Ultimately what this movie is about is a kid who grows up looking for his father and finds himself. And that’s a Spider-Man story we haven’t seen before.”

In related news, a trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man is rumored to be playing along with prints of Captain America: The First Avenger on July 22. And if the story is correct, the trailer will be two minutes and thirty seconds long. Stay tuned!

The Amazing Spider-Man comes to theaters July 3rd, 2012
